L'Afrique des Routes

Content

From the fifth millennium BCE to today, the African continent has never lived in isolation. Numerous river, land and sea routes have contributed to commercial, religious and aesthetic exchanges, well before the arrival of the first Portuguese ships in the 15th century. Sculptures, gold and ivory pieces, paintings and photographs presented in this exhibition place Africa in world history and paint a portrait of a continent with multiple channels of exchange. At the heart of this open and permeable Africa, contemporary African artists are now fully-fledged members of the “Nation of artists” of the world. A true meeting point, Africa assumes its rightful place in collective history!
